Turn yourself into a piece of Art.
Step by step making my cardboard portrait.
Part 1: Contour Drawing
Part 2: Backing & Face
Part 3: Clothes (shoulders)
Part 4: Hair (backing)

1. Make a hair backing: Trace entire hair area using contour drawing.
This determines the shape of your head and may alter your resemblance. Be cautious.

2. Extend your outline 1 inch into the face area for support and layering below the face.

3. Cut out using scissors. This is not your hairstyle. It is only a backing.
This backing allows you to attach and change different hairstyles if you wish to make for your model.

4. Brush on white glue on the extended area and get ready to stick on the face.

5. Stick the face on carefully, following the contour outline on the backing.

6. Place over the body and check alignment. The hair backing should not touch the clothes/ shoulders.
Don't stick it down yet. Consider the option of creating another face that you can interchange with (below).

Part 5: Hairstyle

1. Use the original drawing to wear over the face. You should not have discarded it. Tsk, tsk tsk...

2. Trace and cut out another hair backing.
Why? You need a detachable hair piece to wear over the head. (So that you may change hairstyle by wearing different hair pieces. Cool right?)

3. Wear the hair backing over the face to ensure fit. Nice...

At this point you should have made:
1. Hair backing and
2. Hair frame

Now, you may start designing the hairstyle....

4. Start with bangs/ crown of head.
Use original to sketch out shape on the corrugated cardboard.

5. Place the cut-out bangs on the hair frame (which is worn over the face) to see the fit.
Do not stick yet.
Remember I suggested that you collect some coloured/ shiny boxes? Here you can use to add highlights to your hair.

6. Use the original to plan layers for the rest of the hair from top to bottom.
You may cut 'leaves' to place and arrange first without sticking down.

all you need...
Don't just copy my hairstyle. Google for other ideas. Also, create your own layered textures and hairstyle. Your hair should not cover your cute face.
Further Stylization of hair ...

7. I try to curl up the ends of the hair to have a fly away look. Now, I add the highlights to other parts of the hair. I have only pasted the bangs down, the rest of the hair are still mobile.

8. Cut shiny box strips for hair highlights.

9. Arrange to see overall look before sticking down layer by layer.

10 . You must be able to remove the hair frame and check that the hair does not stick to the face or face backing.

Close up look at how you stick the highlights.

11. Continue to cut and stick the left side of the hair. The entire hair backing must be covered.
Some Final Looks

What do you think can be added to further enhance the look?
(hint: EYES)

The Sparkle in your Eyes!
1. Use a black marker to shade in the pupils.
2. Refer to your original photograph to find the light reflection in your eyes.
3. Cut tiny white cardboard to glue on accurately.
